The Umbrella of Humanity is an ongoing project by Hannah Marsden.
Most cultures incorporate the concept of the umbrella in some form or other to signify many things: status, protection, empowerment, defence, superiority, value, respectability and the divine. In this project I will be exploring the ‘umbrella of humanity’ by investigating the basic things that we all experience as humans, be that the need for shelter, the desire to learn, the struggle for status, or the contradiction of autonomy and co-dependency.
